Celebrating World Diabetes Day - a week of activites at the Leicester Diabetes Centre

(12th November 2014)

Thank you to everyone that took part in the week long activities we raised  a grand total of £82.75 for Diabetes UK!

Well done and thank you to everyone who has donated this week! 

Activity Session at the LDC

Monday 10 Nov

Blue Monday Cake Sale in The Street – 12.30pm

Unite for change,  support Diabetes UK and eat fabulous cake!

Tuesday  11 Nov 

Remembering 1914 and the dead of both World Wars

The LDC will be observing the 2 minute silence at 11.00.  If you are free to do so, show your solidarity by gathering in Reception to mark the moment.

Wednesday 12 Nov

That’s why they call it the Blues!  

Raise money for Diabetes UK by wearing blue, and giving £1.  But remember, must be smart blue – no denims allowed!

Thursday 13 Nov 

Fruit Bowl – Have 1 (or 2!) of your 5 a day, and give 50p to Diabetes UK

Friday 14 Nov

Girls and Boys on Tour 

The intrepid nursing team will be making their presence felt in Fosse Park spreading the word about diabetes, how to prevent it, and talking about the research that goes on in the LDC.


And, on every day the Physical Activity Group will be organising “Take a Break” sessions at 11.45am.  These will last 5mins and involve encouraging everyone to get up from their desk, gathering in reception and moving to some music.  At each session there will be a member of the physical activity group to encourage involvement!
