100,000 HCP have completed the National Safe Use of Insulin

Safety Programme for NHS Diabetes February 2013

 

Situation/challenge

The NHS Diabetes Safety programme is responding to gaps in knowledge with a suite of e-learning modules in order to up skill healthcare professionals, managers and commissioners in order to change behaviours and protect patients from avoidable harm.
Goal

Deliver insulin training across the NHS and other care sectors 
 

The National Safe use of Insulin module has now acheived 100, 000 registrations with 70% of Healthcare professionals completing the assessment (see below)

This is very much a University Hospitals of Leicester product Lead by June James Nurse Consultant, Dr Gregory Diabetologist  (head of service) and Helen Atkins Diabetes Specialist Nurse and it something we are very proud of.
 
This week we also had agreement that the module would be seen as essential for practice to all nurses and pharmacy staff in the acute division along with the insulin intravenous infusion module. Download the Summary of the work by clicking

The Safe Use of Insulin Module

  • We have had 497 registrations this week.The total number of course registrations is now 100081.
  • The number of completions this week is 371 and the total number of course completions to date is 70206.
  • The course completion rate remains at 70%.


The Safe use of Intravenous Insulin Infusions

  • We have had 260 registrations this week and this gives a total of registrations to date as 18602.
  • The number of completions this week is 138 and the total number of course completions to date is 9596.



The Safe use of NON-Insulin Therapies – New Course Released 9th August 2012

  • We have had 271 registrations this week and this gives a total of registrations to date as 8548.
  • The number of completions this week is 88 and the total number of course completions to date as 2666.


The Safe Management of Hypoglycaemia – New Course Released 22nd October 2012

  • We have had 301 registrations this week and this gives a total of registrations to date as 6264.
  • The number of completions this week is 140 and the total number of course completions to date as 2939.
