 Ramadan Facts 














There are are many myths and mis interpretations about who can and cannot fast during Ramadan. Essentially:
 


 

  • If you are taking tablets along with the dietary control you should be extremely cautious if you do decide to fast as your risk of hypoglycaemia maybe increased.
     
  • If you are on insulin treatment you should consult with your diabetes team first to see if your dose can be adjusted to allow fasting during Ramadan.
 
  • Test your blood glucose levels regularly. This will NOT break you fast finger prick

  • If you do develop hypoglycaemia symptoms in the daytime, you should end the fast immediately
