Podiatry Training Day - Community Health Service


What It’s All About

To effect standardisation on Diabetic Foot Assessment and Treatment processes and thus provide equity of patient care throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, the Podiatry Services 1 day training course with a practical component (delegates should be prepared to remove shoes and socks to practice techniques) is due to be run again - with a County wide approach.

The training entitled 'Care of the Diabetic Foot' is aimed at all GP’s/Practice staff involved in assessment and treatment of the diabetic foot to include community / District Nurses and Health Care Assistants if applicable.


The main aims are to:


  • Emphasise the importance of and need for Diabetic Foot Screening
  • Enable identification of a foot ‘At Risk’
  • Put forward standard assessment content, process and equipment used
  • Reaffirm the use of the evidence based recording form
  • Provide practice staff with the skills required to undertake diabetic foot assessments
