What It’s All About

To effect standardisation on Diabetic Foot Assessment and Treatment processes and thus provide equity of patient care throughout Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland, the Podiatry Services 1 day training course with a practical component (delegates should be prepared to remove shoes and socks to practice techniques) is due to be run again - with a County wide approach.

The training entitled 'Care of the Diabetic Foot' is aimed at all GP’s/Practice staff involved in assessment and treatment of the diabetic foot to include community / District Nurses and Health Care Assistants if applicable.

The main aims are to:

  • Emphasise the importance of and need for Diabetic Foot Screening
  • Enable identification of a foot ‘At Risk’
  • Put forward standard assessment content, process and equipment used
  • Reaffirm the use of the evidence based recording form
  • Provide practice staff with the skills required to undertake diabetic foot assessments
